(Texas.CityRegions.Com, March 21, 2014 ) Dallas, TX -- In a recent test conducted by the Department of Life Sciences by the Sciences Faculty of Sfax, two Vitamin C derivatives were tested, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate. The study was done to evaluate and determine the best base for topical skin care in anti-aging creams and serums. It was determined that Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate provided the best formulation, thus making it the most effective source for the Vitamin C in skin care.
While Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is commonly used and did get better test results than Ascorbyl Phosphate, neither proved to offer sufficient stable service. It had already been proven that Ascorbyl Phosphate was severely unstable so the test focused more on Magnesium and Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. "The instability of Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a result of its oxidative degradation," the study read.
"Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate won out for several important reasons. Compared to Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate was significantly more stable," the report read upon completion of the testings. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate was deemed the best as an anti-oxidant.
The researchers went on to post, "Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is one of the most effective free radical quenchers, and has the greatest potential for slowing down the detrimental effects resulting from photodamage. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a stable Vitamin C derivative, which is cleaved by enzymes in the skin to release Ascorbic Acid. It protects cells against free radicals, promotes collagen formation and acts on the melanine formation process."
So what do the scientific findings mean to the layman or laywoman consumers? Simply put, an anti-aging cream is more effective when it lists that Ascorbyl Phosphate is the source for the Vitamin C used. The product will last longer and provide more results. Vitamin C applied topically is rich in anti-oxidants which fight free radicals and the oxidation process meaning, it battles against the damage that occurs to skin over time from harmful things such as overexposure to the sun, chemicals in the air and water, and smoking. In addition, it aids the production of collagen which holds the skin up and keeps it from becoming thin and saggy. It is also conducive to fade dark spots and discolorations of the skin. But the Vitamin C in a product will not work properly if it is not fresh as Vitamin C loses its effectiveness when exposed to air and light. "Anti-aging products are best when delivered in a Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate source," explained Ann Williams, owner of La Beaute Pure organic vitamin c serum. "We are would not consider using any other derivative." Anti-aging products, such as vitamin c serums, Wrinkle Creams, and so forth have flooded the current market. The ingredients within the bottle are only as good as the derivatives used to deliver them," Williams concluded. "And the results are in."
